This write-up explains what the difference is among Lexia, Diagbox and Peugeot Planet PP2000, which would be a good idea for a total newbie in car diagnostics software that Lexia 3 cable required.
Both Diagbox and PP2000 are used to connect to the car's ECU and carry out diagnostics and manage settings. Which is a better software, however?

Diagbox is the only one which is still updated.
The hardware is currently on Revision C.
Diagbox: newer, PP2000: quicker
PP2000 and Diagbox are roughly the same thing , Diagbox being the newer software ,
PP2000 is a quicker software but will become obsolete over the next few years as Peugeot will stop using it this year ,
no point in getting PP2000 then having to change to Diagbox
Peugeot Planet: easier and faster
I have planet and also being a newbie installed planet then diagbox they both worked fine though diagbox was a lot slower (you have to start diagbox then choose planet off the option list) so basically if its just for use on your own car then using planet on its own is easier and faster though if your going to attempt using the interface on other vehicles may as well install diagbox with planet and lexia

put both programmes into one software = diagbox
if your going to buy it you might asswell get diagbox which most new interfaces come with anyway.
Both Lexia & PP2000 available within Diagbox
They are the same.... the discs supplied usually contain PP2000 and Diagbox on one disc (PP2000 is also available within the Diagbox installation), and lexia for Citroens on the other. Lexia is also available within Diagbox.
So if you find an interface with rev C, the software discs will contain everything you need and more.
PP2000 on 32-bit, Diagbox on 64-bit
Planet will only run on 32-bit. Diagbox will run on 64-bit, but when you try to call Planet through Diagbox it will crash because it must have 32-bit.
What I do is install VMWare Player (free). Using that, create a virtual machine XP SP3 32-bit (you will need the disk and key). Then install Planet into that. Works well. Sounds very techy, but it is surprisingly easy, because VMWare is so well documented. When installing Planet, do not plug the Lexia interface in to the PC until prompted.
Planet & Diagbox are software Lexia cable required
The Lexia is the cable required to use the software. Only the cable.
To use the cable you will need software as well, Peugeot Planet and Diagbox are the 2 pieces of software to choose from.
Diagbox is much newer software that supports even the latest cars. However I prefer the interface of Peugeot Planet, much easier not to get lost in there.
Generally when you buy a Lexia software will be included on a disk. As to whether it is genuine or not, you should check with the seller before purchase.

How to connect Lexia3 PP2000 with laptop and Peugeot 307?
Here is a detailed guide with pictures for beginners: How correctly connect Lexia 3 PP2000 Citroen Peugeot Diagnostic Tool with your car and laptop? Set Peugeot 307 2005 as an example:
Step 1: Find your car OBD2 port/connector
Connector is at left side under the steering wheel. You can use a flat screwdriver to remove the cover, the green OBD port is behind it.
Step 2: Connect Lexia3 PP2000 interface with car
Use this cable with a 16 pin OBD connector and a round connector.
Plug the 16 pin OBD connector into green car OBD port.
And connect the round connector end with Lexia3 PP2000 interface’s round connector as below:
Step 3: Connect Lexia3 PP2000 interface with laptop/PC
Use this short USB cable:
Connect the square end of this cable with Lexia3 PP2000 interface as below:

(solved) PSA Diagbox processes always open in memory
In order to not having all Diagbox processes open in memory until the moment i start Diagbox software, i have disabled its windows start commands, stopped and changed its services to manual and made a .cmd file to start the PSA diagbox, this way:
1. run > msconfig > start tab > disable ediagstart + psaagent + simbat > accept > don't restart yet
2. run > services.msc > stop these services and change them to manual: Firebird Guardian + Firebird Server + Serial Port Splitter service
3. run > notepad > copy/paste next lines and save file as .cmd so that you can start it all:
C:\APP\firebird\bin\fbguard.exe -s
C:\APP\firebird\bin\fbserver.exe -s
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ftspssrv.exe
C:\APP\ediag\eDiagStart.lnk
C:\APP\ddc\bin\psastart.exe C:\APP\ddc\bin\psaagent.exe
C:\APP\SIM\SIMBat.lnk
C:\AWRoot\bin\launcher\LctPOLUX.exe

Lexia DiagBox v8.01-8.35 download and install on Win XP 10
This procedure and the software provided are intended for personal, educational and experimental use to install Lexia3 DiagBox v8 on Windows XP or Win 10. Diyobd2 hold no responsibility for any illegal or improper usage. Carry out this procedure at your own risk.

The order of the version lines and which is active in VERSION.INI is important for the running of the system. DiagBox will display 08.01 if set as shown below. But Lexia will NOT work with "version.ini" set to V08.xx active (xx is the version number depending on which update is applied).

If Lexia is started with "version=08.xx" active, "APPDIAG.SYS" will be corrupted and it will need to be restored before DiagBox will work again. To operate Lexia (after starting DiagBox with 8.xx), edit "version.ini" and comment/save "version=08.xx" (by inserting ";" as shown below) BEFORE starting LEXIA.
Setting "version.ini" to 07.xx (by removing or commenting "version=8.xx" permanently) will prompt DiagBox to report V 07.xx, but everything will work fine..

How to change language of Lexia3, Diagbox, PP2000
It’s a customer share of Lexia 3 software (Diagbox, PP2000) language change setup. WARNING !!! DON'T CHANGE LANGUAGE INSIDE THE SOFT ! Example, if you are in English do not change for Spanish (Bug)
Stepsto change Language:
For Lexia3:Navigate to "C:\APP\LEXIA\EXE\" find the file "langue.ini"
For DiagBox:Open the File Explorer and navigate to "C:\AWRoot\dtrd\trans\"language.ini"
Open the file Language.ini and under [LANGUAGE], change "Current=en_GB" to "Current="select country on the screen" and save.

“if you're reinstalling Windows XP from scratch I believe that the original version of XP (without service packs) will not work, you should install service pack 3 before attempting installation of Diagbox. Also there is anecdotal evidence that XP Pro is required and that XP Home may not work. (I have not tried it myself)

Under the file “LEXIA3_KEYGEN”, there are the activation pictures for lexia3
and the file “PP2000_KEYGEN” contains the activation pictures for PP2000.
