(fixed) Super MB STAR C3 “device not recognized” Communication Error

Recently, diyobd2 received a customer complaint that - I bought your Super mb star c3 V2015.09 HDD software, but it cannot recognize/ identify the multiplexer.. Maybe communication error. How to solve it?

Background info:

Software version: 2015.09 super mb star software

Disk: HDD

COM port: COM3

Operating system: VMware player on Windows 10

Device to use together with: original Super MB STAR C3 multiplexer

Symptom: when Super mb star c3 is connected to the laptop, it cannot be recognized!

About COM port:

- For laptops come with COM port:

  set COM1 before software installation--> 95% success

- For those use Z-TEK USB 1.1 to RS232 converter connector:

   set COM1 before software installation--> 50% success

- For those with a USB-to-COM cable themselves:

  Do not change the COM port setting after the Super mb star c3 software starts. If changed, re-set it as before

About operating system:

Windows 10 --> not work?!--> Windows 7--> also not work?!--> Windows XP--> still not work?! --> go to ask the vendor for help
