What is this MB Smart Key Teach-in?
MB Smart Key teach-in is auto diagnostic OBD center interface for Mercedes-Benz Smart vehicles 1998-2002 with SAM unit or ZEE unit.

(ZEE unit stands for Zentrale Einschub Elektrik which means Central Electric Module. It is the 600cc version of the SAM unit. It carries the fuses in very much the same way but the relays are all external so can be swapped over)
When to use MB Smart Key Teach-in?
Smart Key Teach-in for Mercedes Benz smart vehicle is required when keys are lost, damaged or if additional key is needed. Also it synchronizes engine ECU with BSI – so it can be used when changing damaged ECU or BSI with new/used one!
How to use MB Smart Key Teach-in?
- Turn ignition ON without starting engine (position)
- Insert dongle in OBD connector (it is located under steering column, near pedals).
- The LEDs must light both then green must blink few times. If all OK, green LED remains light and red must be off. If red LED blinks fast, this means an error, you may remove dongle and try again.
- If red LED is off and green is on, turn OFF the ignition key.
- Press twice LOCK button on each remote (if 3 button remote used) within 30 sec. Maximum of 4 keys can be programmed.
- Turn ignition ON again, this completes learning sequence. Remote controls are working only when ignition is OFF; cranking is possible only when vehicle is in UNLOCKED state.
