How use KESS V2 2.32 to read write Renault Sandero EMS3120?

Good news for sharing: 1. KESS V2 clone Ksuite 2.32 now is available! 2. Newly tested OK to read 2014 Renault Dacia Sandero SIEMENS EMS3120 ECU by KESS V2 2.32!
KESS V2 2.32 read 2014 Renault Sandero EMS3120 steps:
Connect KESS V2 2.32 FW 4.036 with car via OBD2 port.
Open K-suite 2.32 software and click the car icon to start.
Choose car manufacturer “Renault”, car model “Sandero” and car year and ECU type “2014 EMS3120”.
Click “OK” to continue.
Then just click “Read” button KESS V2 starts to read EMS3120 ECU.
It may costs 3 to 4 minutes and ECU reading complete.
 
After save the bin file, follow the tip to connect car with a stable battery charger then click “Write”.

First of all I would say that it has probably the widest coverage of vehicles with its strengths in particular to older vehicles and Marques such as Ford and Jaguar. Having widest range of protocols meant that this tool, in particular the slave version being the number 1 choice for vehicle remapping franchises to build networks with. Putting the slave tool aside as this has no function to a professional chip tuner, lets look at the master version.
So apart from having the widest range of vehicles what else does the Kess V2 have going for it.
Features
For a start the GUI is very user friendly, this would be an advantage for novice users as all vehicles are set out individually with models and engines all separated so the user can easily identify the correct vehicle.
It also has a very broad help section, so every time you select a vehicle, the tool will automatically give information on correct cables to use or how to read the vehicle, again very user friendly.
There is on the master version a file back up folder where original files for some ID only vehicles can be stored, this enables the user to have an original file to hand instead of having to bootload the ECU or search for an original file.
Another plus for the Kess V2 is that it comes standard with a bootloader function for flashing some ECUs on the bench such as Bosch me7.x.x and Visteon DCU102 where a read function is unavailable.
The tool has industry standard features such as a battery real time monitor, a recovery function, scan tool function to clear down DTC’s and automatic checksum correction where available. On some ECUs a flash counter reset is also available.
Overall the Kess V2 is quite a stable tool 90% of the time. However, lets take a look at the negatives.
The negative
It does on occasion struggle with some protocols and with perseverance it usually manages the job.
Another downside to the Kess is it’s data transfer rate when reading out some vehicles. Some ECUs have been known to take up to 3 hours to read out. Even some basic Bosch EDC16 on Kline have taken up to an hour to read out.
This becomes more of a hindrance for busy tuning shops and mobile tuners as standing around for hours isn’t making money.
In summary,
I would score the Kess a 7/10.
Positives for me would be the coverage of older vehicles, and the ease of use with its GUI for dummies platform.
Negatives are long read times and instability with some controllers.  Alientech also seem to be the last to release new protocols.

Q: How to choose a right ECU programmer? Should I buy KESS and KTAG together?
A: If you only want to repair car ECU, you can KTAG it’s enough for your job. If you do both repairing and ECU chip tuning, KESS + KTAG should be better!
Q: What’s the difference in tokens between cheap KESS V2 and the €199 one? Are they both with unlimited tokens?
A: Yes. Both two versions has unlimited tokens. The only difference lies in token reset way: When add tokens, the cheap KESS (SE87-C) should connect with PC via USB cable, but SE87-D has token renew button, add tokens by directly press the button!
Q: I am using Ktag but not sure for what situation the token is cut?
A: When use KTAG to backup and read ECU, it doesn’t need tokens. For write ECU, KTAG need tokens.
Q: KTAG and KTM100, What’s the difference?
A: KTAG and KTM100 both can do checksum. KTM100 can read when ECU is encrypted, such as BOSCH MEV1746BMW (P171) and BMW N55 N20 ECU.
Q: And what about KESS V2? Token and ECU read write?
A: KESS V2 can read write ECU via OBD or Boot Mode. For new car ECU, you can use OBD way. KESS V2 has no backup function and every read write cost tokens.

ECU tuning advice: Choose KESS, KTAG, CMD, BDM100 or TL866A?

D'abord, vous devez savoir qu'il ya 4 façons de programmer ECU (selon l'année de la voiture et les types d'ECU):
  1. Flashing ECU via le port de communication OBD2
  2. Flashing ECU via un port BDM spécial qui est sur la carte mère de l'ECU
  3. Flashing l'ECU en mode de démarrage, sur la table
  4. Souder l'EEPROM sur l'ECU et reprogrammation ECU
  1. Maintenant, vous allez savoir dans chaque sens de la programmation de l'ECU et les outils ECU de réglage recommandés.
  2. Flashing ECU via OBD
Vous pouvez flasher plus UCE 2000 à 2.008 (et beaucoup d'entre eux, même après 2008) via le port OBD. Tout ce que vous avez besoin est un outil flash OBD, brancher l'outil avec la voiture via OBD et donner la batterie 12V stable l'alimentation électrique de votre voiture. De cette façon, vous pouvez lire ECU et flasher le fichier d'accord sur le câble. Il est le moyen le plus simple et le plus rapide de la reprogrammation ECU.

  1. Flashing ECU via BDM
Most ECUs from 2002 to 2008 (and some later) have a special communication port on the motherboard called a BDM port. To access this port you need to take the ECU out of the car and open it. In this way ECU will receive a stable 12V power, and can be flashed over and over again. So this is most safe way for ECU programming. And you can also backup if something goes wrong with the flashing via OBD.

  1. Flashing ECU via Boot Mode
You need to take ECU out of the car, and program it on the table while connecting special cables to the ECU's connector pins. Sometimes you also need to do some soldering, like adding resistors to the motherboard…

  1. Flashing via soldering EEPROM
You can use this way for older car ECUs and a big percentage of truck ECUs. You also need to take out the ECU, open it and desolder out the EEPROM chip. Then you can read EEPROM chip using an EEPROM programmer. After read, file is modified and then programmed back on a chip (or on a new, empty one). Then you solder the chip back into the ECU.

How to download and save ecu data in Renault CAN CLIP

I have the reprogramming feature with the can clip v160. I cannot see where to download and save the existing ecu data as a file. either as a backup or to save and send off for remapping.

And here is all user suggestion... Should be ok i think. Wish tips below help anyone also.
Why cannot see the option (download & save data)?

Because in your renault can clip software, there exists no option of this.

What is needed for download & save data in renault CLiP?
You need another cable for that.
Use ren k line tool (google search this from immotools) or kess v2mpps, etc

Definitely yes. i have some experience with s3000 which is on petrol models after 2003 inc 2.0t sport on megane version and read manually by mpps .

i resolder obd and give 14v supply to the ecu and the mpps v12 (chinees clone) but always use supply over +13v cause the interface burning the can chip

So finding that command depends on the ecu, diesel have, petrol might not have.

Why should i buy Galletto 4, Kess v2 and Ktag together?

Kess v2, Ktag, Fgtech Galletto 4 are the top 3 ECU programmers in the market. Ever failed on some ECUs? Actually, it’s necessary to buy Kess , Ktag and Fgtech all together, especially for a pro. Reasons are listed here.
Why to buy Galletto 4 and kess v2 together?
Galletto 4 work with truck, including Benz truck, read and write ECU via both BDM and OBD; KESS not works with truck, read and write ECU via only OBD, not BDM.
KESS V2 is a ECU programming tool that is perfect for OBD use, while KTag is perfect for Jtag, BDM and all the Boot application (tricore and ST10).
With KESS V2 you programming directly through the OBD port of the vehicle, while with Ktag (Ktag 2.13) you need to take apart the ECU and open it, after you can make the read/write operation.

Review on KESS V2 V2.22 ECU Chip Tuning Kit

This article is a review on Kess V2 ECU Chip Tuning Tool.

At first I was confused about finding an auto ECU programmer for pulling and remapping. I asked for advice on the forum and some friends told me Kess V2 and offered me some successfully tested result of it. Followed his advice, I purchased the master on obd2france.com with €165 and received a carton package after 3 days delivery.


The customer service told me that the tool could not be updated online, and the anti-virus should be turned off when started the software. They also told me the KESS V2 add a renew button on the main unit which is used to add tokens. Once it crushed chips, simply click this button and chips will come back to 30 tokens. 

I was a newbie of using the tool. After I installed the software Ksuite V2.22, I run the software and the error “EXTERNAL EXCEPTION EEFFACE” appeared. I had no idea about what happened. After consulting the engineers, they told me the following reasons that may cause the error patiently:
1.      The driver is not installed well
2.      The device is not connected
3.      The operation system is not supported with the software
4.      SD card is not inserted well.
5.      The card is not touched with the card holder.
With checking up, there was definitely something wrong with SD card. I repaired the card and did the operation of writing maps fortunately.


In a total word, I’m satisfied with Kess V2. It mentioned there have other functions in this ECU Programmer, like automatic correction of the checksum, read and write speed. I will try these functions and write down my test result in this blog.
